Field Trips & Other Events

THRA Fieldtrip

THRA occasionally sponsors Field Trips as another way to gather and share information about one or more of the fascinating historical railroads of Tuolumne County. As compared to the annual Sierra Railway Seminar and the other events during Tuolumne Railroad Weekend, these Field trips typically are smaller, less formal, and at a variety of locations.

THRA Fieldtrip

Past Field Trips have included a visit to Patrick Karnahan’s ride-on railroad on top of Table Mountain near Jamestown, and a Hetch-Hetchy Railroad event in Groveland, CA. See information on both these events in issue #2 of our newsletter The Journey, which you can find under the Resources menu. Future Field trips tentatively planned include a visit to explore Pickering’s famed Peeled Onion, as well as an event focused on all the railroads (including the Sierra) in Oakdale, CA.

The best way to receive registration information for future Field Trips is to be a subscriber to THRA e-mails. If you are not already a subscriber, just click on the Subscribe button in the “Stay in Touch” section at the bottom of each page on this website.
